Illegal constructions in Kalyan-Dombivli on the radar of the Municipal Commissioner Dr Indurani Jakhar

Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Commissioner Dr Indurani Jakhar has entrusted the responsibility of demolishing illegal constructions in the municipal limits of the KDMC to the Assistant Commissioner of the ward. The Additional Commissioner of the municipality has been appointed as the co-ordinating officer for the work of government orders regarding illegal constructions, court liaison, etc.

Dr Jakhar has shared a helpline number  18002334392 with all the citizens residing in KDMC area which can be used to file complaints against any illegal construction that they come across in their vicinity.

After Thane Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar announced a special programme to demolish illegal buildings within the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) limits, KDMC has also taken a similar decision.

1,67,000 illegal constructions have been erected in the KDMC area in the last 25 years. Apart from this, during the last three years, land mafias have constructed 65 illegal skyscrapers and have sold the flats in these buildings to the citizens. Somehow they have managed to get the Maha RERA registration numbers for these illegal constructions. Harishchandra Mhatre, architect Sandeep Patil have filed a Public Interest Litigation in Bombay High Court in this illegal construction case.
