Wondering how to reach your NEET/JEE exam center during this COVID-19 induced lockdown? There is no need to worry as a group of IIT students and alumni has come to your rescue. They have designed a web portal that will help the NEET (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test)/JEE (Joint Entrance Examination)candidates appearing to find transport to their examcenters.

EduRide is a web portal that connects students across the country with volunteers willing to drive or arrange a vehicle to their respective examcenters. Any NEET or JEE candidate can log in on the website, enter details of location of residence and examcenters. These details are then matched against volunteers, who are from a network of students and alumni of various IITs.

Since its launch on August 29, the portal is getting close to 200 entries a day for transport and has received support from more than 70 volunteers.

One of the problems cited by candidates is the lack of public transport facilities in the lockdown that can deter the candidates’ ability to reach their centers on time.Taking to social media, IIT Bombay director Subhasis Chaudhuri said, “In order to help the JEE (Main) and NEET candidates in various locations across the country, several students and alumni of IITs, including those of IIT Bombay and Delhi, have come forward to connect needy candidates with the volunteers willing to help in transport or monetarily through an online portal http://eduride.in. I request volunteers to help in providing transport to the needy candidates in their neighborhood. Let us all help the future engineers, doctors and scientists of India. Kindly share this information along with the following disclaimer.”

Disclaimer: Pl note that IIT Bombay is merely facilitating the process of connecting a person A with another person B, and does not authenticate the genuineness of either the candidate or the volunteer. One must use this facility at his or her own risk.

EduRide will ease the burden of commuting for the candidates, especially from remote locations and poorly connected areas.

The portal has been divided into two sections for registration; one for students and other for the alumni/volunteer.
