How New Skills and Infrastructure Are Shaping Local Communities
Rotary Club of Thane Lake City
E-Rickshaw Livelihood Empowerment Project
The Rotary Club of Thane Lake City, in collaboration with Atos India and Samarth Bharat Vyaspeetha Sanstha, launched the E-Rickshaw Livelihood Empowerment Project to create sustainable income for marginalized women and transgender individuals. Following a rigorous selection process, 15 beneficiaries received E-rickshaws, comprehensive operational training, and licensing support. This eco-friendly initiative promotes long-term financial independence, dignity, and social acceptance over short-term assistance.
Tech Lab Digital Education Initiative
The Rotary Club of Thane Lake City, alongside the Rotary Club of Bangalore West and the Rotary Club of Thane Green City, partnered with Goldman Sachs to establish 22 tech labs equipped with 200 computers. Serving over 2,200 municipal school students in grades 8–10, the initiative bridges the digital divide by providing structured, hands-on training in computer literacy, software, coding, and digital communication.
TB Mukt Thane- Nikshay Mitra Initiative
Rotary Club of Thane Lake City supports tuberculosis patients through nutrition kits and awareness programs. By providing nutritional support and encouraging treatment adherence, the initiative improves recovery outcomes and reduces the burden on economically challenged families. The project contributes to the national goal of a TB-free India while promoting community health and disease prevention. Project partners were Rotary club of Thane Premium.
Wada and Namana School Development Project
The Rotary Club of Thane Lake City, with support from Rational Engineers, upgraded regional educational infrastructure with classrooms, furniture, labs, and electrical works. This initiative includes a school development project in Wada (Palghar District) benefiting 300 students annually, and an upcoming facility in Namana Village (Rajasthan) that will support roughly 600 students.
Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Skill Development Center
The Club supports this vocational training initiative that equips youth with practical skills in installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. The programme improves employability and creates pathways for sustainable careers and entrepreneurship. This project was in partnership with Rotary Club of Thane Green City and Rotary club of Thane North and supported by Blue star.
