SDIS celebrates Children’s Day with inspiring cricket session on Women’s World Cup win

Thane, November 14, 2025 – Snehalata Dev International School (SDIS) marked Children’s Day in a unique and inspiring manner by hosting renowned cricket commentator and former state-level player, Juili Ballal, for a special assembly with students of the primary section.

The session celebrated India’s historic Women’s World Cup victory while promoting sports participation, particularly cricket, among young girls. In an interactive and engaging format, students of grades 3, 4, and 5 learned about the journey, struggles, and triumphs of India’s women cricketers.

Juili Ballal, who has worked with esteemed sports channels including ESPN Cricinfo, JioHotstar, Sony Sports, and Star Sports, shared firsthand stories from her interactions with both men and women cricketers. Students were captivated as they discovered the different challenges faced by women’s cricket in India compared to men’s cricket, and how the women’s team persevered despite limited resources and recognition.

The young audience was particularly keen to understand the significance of India’s World Cup win and what it took to perform under pressure. Through real-life examples, Juili illustrated how dedication and perseverance can overcome any obstacle. She also highlighted the connection between sports and academics, explaining how cricket can enhance mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The session concluded with students reflecting on Walt Disney’s powerful words: “Whatever you do, do it well. Do it so well that when people see you do it, they will want to come back and see you do it again.” This message resonated deeply with the children, inspiring them to pursue their passions with excellence.

SDIS’ initiative to celebrate Children’s Day by honoring women’s achievements in sports reflects the school’s commitment to holistic education and gender equality. By bringing accomplished role models like Juili Ballal to interact with students, the school continues to inspire young minds to dream big and break barriers.
