Iron Rods from Metro Work Fall on Cars in Thane

Thane residents had a narrow escape when two heavy iron rods from an under-construction metro site suddenly fell onto parked cars near Kapurbawdi flyover. The accident happened on Tuesday afternoon around 2:30 pm, leaving locals shaken but thankfully causing no injuries.

One of the affected residents, Omol Lote, said his 43-year-old car was badly damaged after being struck by the rods. People nearby rushed to the spot, worried about what could have been a major tragedy had pedestrians or moving vehicles been in the way.

The incident has raised serious safety concerns. Residents allege that despite repeated warnings, safety precautions at metro construction sites remain weak. Such lapses, they say, put both lives and property at risk every single day.

While work on the metro aims to ease traffic in the future, locals now demand stricter safety measures so that development does not come at the cost of public safety
