1 dot ball = planting 500 trees! Hats off to BCCI

The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) decided on an environmentally friendly initiative ahead of the playoffs of the TATA IPL 2023. Each dot ball bowled in the IPL 2023 Playoffs will result in the BCCI planting 500 trees. The BCCI has undertaken a number of measures to encourage environmental sustainability and help to preserve the environment.

Other initiatives by the BCCI
The BCCI has had many initiatives for the environment in the recent past. BCCI has implemented a procedure for green certification for cricket stadiums all over India. The idea is to persuade stadiums to embrace environmentally responsible behaviours, including recycling, managing garbage, conserving electricity, and using renewable energy sources.

BCCI has also emphasised the usage of solar energy in cricket stadiums. Many stadiums have installed solar panels to generate electricity and lessen their reliance on fossil fuels. This action reduces carbon emissions and encourages the use of sustainable energy.
During games, the BCCI encourages proper waste control techniques in the stadiums. Waste is separated and disposed of in an environmentally friendly way through various efforts. Recycling bins and garbage collection locations are offered to entice spectators to assist in waste management initiatives.
