Team E wins the Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy
Half-centurions and opening pair of Team E, Nandini Kashyap and Raghvi Bisht, combined with a disciplined bowling effort, steered the side to an emphatic 26-run win in the final of the Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy on Wednesday in Ranchi.
Batting first, the Uttarakhand duo of Kashyap and Bisht put together 96 runs in 11.3 overs to provide a solid start to their team. While Kashyap (56) registered her fourth half-century in five matches and grabbed the player of the series award, Bisht (71) top scored in the final to win the player of the match award. Apart from left arm tweaker Saika Ishaque (3/22), who opened the bowling, no other bowler of Team A could pose a problem.
Chasing 172 was going to be an uphill task for Team A. They did not get off to the best of starts as they lost their opener Priya Punia (2) in the third over. Later, captain Harleen Deol (43) and wicket-keeper-batter Richa Ghosh (32) steading the ship but they too fell against the run of play. Deol and Ghosh were caught in the spin web of Archana Devi (2/11) and Prakashika Naik (2/28). In the end, Team A were restricted to 145/8 in 20 overs.
