Pepper, Cumin and Garlic Rasam Recipe
Black Pepperis considered beneficial for weight loss, helps in relieving cough and cold, improves digestion, boosts metabolism and treats many skin problems.
Cumin seeds have multiple benefits. They are good for digestion, have anti-inflammatory effects, aid in weight loss, improve immunity and treat skin disorders.
Garlic hasanti-microbial properties. Consuming garlic on a daily basishelps in lowering cholesterol levels because of the anti-oxidant properties present in it. It also aidsin regulating blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
Ingredients:
6-7 garlic cloves
1 tsp pepper corns
1.5 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp mustard seeds
a pinch of hing (asafoetida)
2 dried red chilies
½ tsp rasam powder
few curry leaves
around one lemon sized tamarind
1 cup warm water
salt to taste
3 cups normal water
1 tbsp ghee
few coriander leaves to garnish
Procedure:
- Keep all the ingredients ready.
- Coarsely grind garlic, cumin seeds and peppercorns into a paste.
- Soak tamarind in 1 cup warm water. Squeeze it well to extract the pulp.
- Heat ghee in a pan. Add hing, mustard seeds, broken red chillies, curry leaves, rasam powder and pepper-cumin-garlic paste to it. Fry it for few minutes.
- Now add the pulpy tamarind water along with 3 cups of normal water to it. Give it a good boil.
- Turn off the heat.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with rice and few drops of extra ghee.
