Making Thane proud in the world is the two-time IRONMAN winner Hitesh Malhotra
Hitesh Malhotra earned his second IRONMAN title as he successfully completed the Herculean challenge involving 3.8km swim, 180km of cycling and a full marathon with a distance of 42.2km.
“This was a special one, more special than the previous one that took place in New Zealand. What made it special was that the challenges that I faced in this IRONMAN were oblivious to me since I had never faced them during my entire training,” exclaimed Hitesh.
He added, “Whether it was the choppy swim for 1500m or my left aero bar getting loose at 30km bike ride or it was losing my nutrition from my back pocket at 90km mark on bike leg which actually hit me badly on run with 28km to go, it was extremely tough to continue.” However, Hitesh’s strong mindset came to his rescue as he weathered the storm to sail through successfully. “I am happy that my mind just didn’t know how to give up,” he stated.
Backed by his family including his in-laws, who stand behind him like a rock, Hitesh has been able to achieve this magnificent feat. “My father was standing with me since 5am and cheering with his full energy. Seeing him, my confidence reached a new high and I was determined to bag the title, if not for me but for my father, who has been my inspiration,” he averred.
Malhotra also emphasizes on the importance of fitness in achieving this next to impossible feat and regards nutrition as the fourth discipline of IRONMAN. “I hope the year 2020 turns out to be even bigger and better as far as my IRONMAN journey is concerned,” concluded the two-time IRONMAN title winner Hitesh Malhotra.
