No “home” advantage for India Women against West Indies Women; 1st T20I today

After a heartbreaking outing in Australia, team India has returned home to host West Indies for a three-match T20I series followed by a three-match ODI series. The first T20I between India and West Indies will be played on Sunday at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. India have a task cut out for them as West Indies will not be an easy assignment. West Indies have a terrific T20I record in India, and not to forget, they also won the 2016 T20 World Cup in this very country.

Players to watch out

Smriti Mandhana: The left-handed opening batter of India loves playing at this venue. In five innings, she has scored over 200 runs at an average of 43 and strike rate of 120. She has a couple of half-centuries too.

Renuka Singh Thakur: The right-arm seamer of India has the uncanny ability of picking wickets inside the powerplay in T20Is. Overall, in 50 innings, she has scalped 57 wickets, including two four-wicket hauls and one fifer.

Hayley Matthews: The captain of West Indies is world’s number one all-rounder in women’s T20I cricket. She is a right-handed opening batter and a right-arm off spinner. With close to 2500 T20I runs and over 100 wickets, she is a genuine match winner.

Afy Fletcher: She is a wily leg spinner from West Indies who can spin a web around any opposition. Though she does not have a great record against India with five wickets in 10 matches, she has the calibre to be a game changer.
