Dilip Vengsarkar Sports Foundation wins 5th Late Arjun Madhvi Women’s Trophy
Dilip Vengsarkar Sports Foundation beat MIG Cricket Club by 10 wickets on Saturday in Thane to win the fifth edition of Late Arjun Madhvi Women’s Trophy.
Batting first, the tournament debutants MIG Cricket Club were skittled out for 136 in 33.5 overs. Kushi Giri wreaked havoc with the ball as she scalped four wickets. Giri found able allies in Punam Raut and Aditi Surve as the du0 claimed two scalps apiece. Apart from Mahek Mistry (24) and Mitali (22), none of the MIG batters looked in shape. In the end, as a batting unit, they failed to put up a respectable score.
In reply, Dilip Vengsarkar Sports Foundation completed the formalities in 19.2 overs. The opening pair of Shweta Kalpathi (76 not out) and former India opener Punam Raut (45 not out) crossed the finishing line unscathed. They played exquisite shots and dominated the opposition with their stroke-filled batting.
