State Issues Order for Minimum Wage Increase
Thane: The state government has issued an order to stop exploitation of contract workers in local bodies. MLA Sanjay Kelkar informed that under the new order, workers will receive better wages and facilities. Earlier, workers were paid only ₹21,070, but now they will get ₹30,520. Semi-skilled workers’ wages have increased from ₹20,070 to ₹28,120, and unskilled workers from ₹18,570 to ₹25,070. This decision brings relief to thousands of workers who were underpaid and denied basic facilities. The new rule applies from May 6, 2025.
