A portion of a building in Thane’s Kopri area collapses

On Thursday morning, a portion of a residential building collapsed in Thane’s Kopri area. The incident took place at around 8.30am. The building identified is Gayatri building in Thane east. It is a three-storey building and has been classified as ‘very dangerous’. After heavy downpour on Wednesday night, the balcony of a flat seemed to have collapsed. Fortunately, there is no casualty as the building was vacated and sealed. The debris has been removed and a call will be taken on demolishing the dangerous portions of the building. To deal with such situations, the NDRF team is stationed in Thane.
