MP Naresh Mhaske Raises Demand in Finance Commission Meeting

MP Naresh Mhaske demanded more financial support for basic civic services in municipal areas like Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli, Navi Mumbai, and others. In a meeting of the 16th Finance Commission in Delhi, he stressed improving housing, transport, waste management, and public amenities. Due to growing populations and rapid urbanization, local self-government bodies need greater funds. Mhaske highlighted issues like limited housing availability, rising travel distances, and insufficient funds for essential infrastructure. He urged a 20% increase in grants. The Finance Commission is considering a total budget of ₹3,400 crore.
