Mumbai pip Odisha to solidify their position in points table

After bowling out Arunachal Pradesh for 67 on Thursday, Mumbai beat Odisha by as many runs on Saturday in the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy in Ahmedabad.

Defending 165, Mumbai bowled out Odisha for 98 in 30.3 overs to win the match by 67 runs. This is the fifth win for islanders and with that they have solidified their number two spot in the points table.

Janhavi Kate starred with the ball for Mumbai picking up three wickets. The tweaker conceded just three runs in three overs. Apart from Kate, the pace duo of Sayali Satghare and Manali Dakshini claimed two scalps apiece. For Odisha, their captain, Sushree Dibyadarshini was the lone warrior in the fight. She top scored with 44 and with the ball too was among the most successful bowlers with three wickets.

Early in the day, Mumbai were skittled out for 165 in 47.2 overs. Vrushali Bhagat (55) registered an impressive half century when wickets were tumbling all-around her. In the end, Dakshini’s useful knock of 36 helped Mumbai go past the 15-run mark. Apart from Dibyadarshini, Jyoti Prasad was the other bowler who caused some trouble to Mumbai batters. Prasad chipped in with three wickets.

Mumbai will play their last league match against Assam on Monday at Narendra Modi Stadium Ground ‘A’ in Ahmedabad.
