Mumbai bowls out Arunachal Pradesh for 67; Win by 7 Wickets
In a low scoring affair, Mumbai demolished Arunachal Pradesh by seven wickets in the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy on Thursday in Ahmedabad. Mumbai bundled out Arunachal Pradesh for a paltry score of 67 in 41.1 overs and then chased the target in 9.3 overs with seven wickets in hand.
Arunachal Pradesh had a poor outing with the bat after they won the toss and elected to bat first. Captain Nabam Yapu (20) and Reetika Aggarwal (24) were the only two batters to score in double digits. Zeal Dmello, who opened the bowling for Mumbai in this match, wreaked havoc as she scalped four wickets.
In reply, Mumbai completed the formalities at a canter. They lost three wickets in the process but finished the game inside 10 overs. The top scorer in the run chase was the extras as Arunachal Pradesh gave away 21 of them. The opening pair of captain Humairaa Kaazi (12) and Aachal Valanju (15), who opened the batting for the first time in this tournament played their parts but perished against the run of play. Zeal Dmello (8) was promoted to number three but that didn’t work as she too was dismissed cheaply. In the end, Simran Shaikh (6 not out) and Vrushali Bhagat (6 not out) ensured that there was no more drama and took their team over the line.
Mumbai will play their next match against Odisha on Saturday at Gujarat College Cricket Ground ‘A’ in Ahmedabad.
