Mumbai register a hat-trick of wins in the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy

It was a walk in the park for Mumbai as it took just 15.4 overs for them to chase down the paltry target of 112 set by Nagaland on Sunday in Ahmedabad to register a hat-trick of wins in Senior Women’s One Day Trophy.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Nagaland had a disappointing day with the bat. They were restricted to a miserly sum of 111 in 50 overs. Najmeen Khatun was the lone warrior in the fight as she top scored with a 96-ball 28. On the other hand, Mumbai had a fantastic outing with the ball, with Janhavi Kate being the pick of the bowlers scalping three wickets. The pace duo of Sayali Satghare and Manali Dakshini continued their good form in this competition, accounting for two wickets apiece.

After dominating with the ball, Mumbai batters continued to rule the roost in the match with a prolific performance. Captain Humairaa Kaazi led from the front scoring a 50-ball 48. Her opening partner Riya Chaudhari (19) too chipped in with useful runs before Vrushali Bhagat (28 not out) and Simran Shaikh (12 not out) saw their team home with eight wickets in hand. Mumbai lost just the two wickets, with Chandu V claiming both the scalps.

Mumbai will play their next match against Hyderabad on Tuesday at ADSA Railways Cricket Ground in Ahmedabad.
