Ghodbunder’s Electricity Crisis

Around 6 am on Sunday, the power supply was suddenly interrupted across Ghodbunder Road, Vasant Vihar, and the surrounding areas. Residents of Wagle Estate, Vasant Vihar, Ghodbunder Road, Ovala, and Kolshet suffered immensely due to the intense summer heat.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company (Mahatransco), under the Vashi circle in the Thane region, begane work at 6.05 am to increase capacity on the Padghe-Wada power line at the Kudus substation. During this process, the Padghe-Kolshet power line connected to the Patlipada substation tripped. This led to a blackout in most parts of Thane city.

Following the technical fault, Mahatransco and Mahavitaran initiated repair work on a war footing. Power was gradually restored in various phases through alternative routes. By 11.30 am, power was restored.
